PhD program
The Medical Faculty offers PhD trainings in the following disciplines:
The PhD students benefit from a high level training during the PhD (3-4 years) and are prepared for their careers at an advanced level. The required coursework of 12 ECTS will provide the students with the necessary theoretical background and the supervised thesis will lead to the experience of conducting challenging research.
PhD in Epidemiology / Public Health
A PhD in Epidemiology / Public Health can be obtained in the framework of the interdisciplinary PhD in Epidemiology offered by the Faculty of Science (‘Fakultätsübergreifende Promotionsfach Epidemiologie’). The program and it's requirements are described in detail on the homepage of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) (see also PhD Regulations).
PhD students in the field of Public Health can additionally register at the Swiss School of Public Health.
PhD Program in Health Sciences
The PhD Program in Health Sciences (PPHS) is an Educational Infrastructure which aims at offering students the maximum opportunities to achieve a career at an advance level. Doctoral students whose research focuses on a Health Sciences topic are automatically members of the PPHS. Students are thus part of a wider community, broadening and enriching their academic and personal experience.
