Application for admission
After the approval by the PhD advisor you are required to apply for admission to the doctoral studies at the University of Basel. The application for the Student Office includes the following documents:
- Check list (PDF)
- Letter of application (Sample)
- Affirmation of faculty representative (Sample)
- Confirmation of financial support (Sample or copy of work contract)
- Confirmation of the student's availability (at least 50% for 3 years, Sample)
- Research proposal (Guidelines, How to write a proposal)
- Time table of research project (Sample)
- Educational training during PhD studies (at least 12 ECTS) (Sample)
- Master & Diploma certificates
- Evidence of proficiency in English on level B2 (Regulations in English / official version in German)
- CV of applicant and supervisors (Sample)
- Declaration concerning failed or current attempts to receive a doctoral degree (PDF)
- List of PhD committee members (Sample)
After the acceptance of your application you can enroll as a PhD student at the the Student Office at the beginning of each semester (more details).
