medF

At the end of the semester, Prof. Petya Apostolova will give her inaugural lecture on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11.15 am. It is entitled 'Immunotherapies to fight cancer: the best are yet to come'. The lecture will be in English.

The lecture takes place at grosser Hörsaal, Zentrum für Lehre und Forschung Hebelstrasse 20, Basel.

Apostolova is Professor of Experimental Hematology. Her research at the Department of Biomedicine focuses on questions at the interface between immunology and hematology. The aim is to develop better therapies for patients with blood cancer. Particular attention is paid to the way in which metabolic processes in tumor and immune cells control survival, cell fate and cell-cell interactions. Apostolova's team works with various experimental techniques, e.g. preclinical cancer and stem cell transplantation models, metabolomics, flow cytometry, organoid cultures and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing.
