Otto Naegeli Research Prize for Mirjam Christ-Crain

Prof. Dr. Christ-Crain, Professor of Endocrinology and Clinical Research at the University of Basel and Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University Hospital Basel, will receive the Otto Naegeli Prize for Medical Research on June 18.

The Otto Naegeli Prize is awarded every two years to outstanding personalities in the field of medical research, is endowed with 200,000 Swiss francs and is considered one of the most important academic prizes in Switzerland. It enjoys high international recognition of credits and grades. With this prize, the Otto Naegeli Foundation supports and rewards outstanding research into the preservation and funding of human life and quality of life. The prizewinners are chosen by the prize council, which passes the foundation's president and previous prizewinners.

Christ-Crain conducts research at the Department of Clinical Research in the fields of endocrinology and metabolic and developmental disorders. She now joins an illustrious community of close Swiss researchers who have been awarded the Otto Naegeli Prize, including microbiologist and former President of the Swiss National Science Foundation Heidi Diggelmann, paediatrician and former President of the Swiss Science and Technology Council Susanne Suter and molecular biologist and former Secretary General of the European Molecular Biology Organization Walter J. Gehring.
