Three professorships, four people, seven doctorates

The University Council has appointed four new professors in the fields of geriatric medicine, orthopaedics and biomechanics: Prof. Dr. Dr. Marc Aurel Busche, Prof. Dr. Dr. Heike Annette Bischoff-Ferrari, Prof. Dr. Dr. Michael Hirschmann and Prof. Dr. Dr. Andrej Nowakowski.
Prof. Busche and Prof. Bischoff-Ferrari will work at the Felix Platter University Department of Geriatric Medicine, she in the field of geriatrics and he in the field of dementia. Prof. Hirschmann and Prof. Nowakowski will share a professorship in orthopaedics and biomechanics at the Canton of Baselland Cantonal Hospital. They will conduct research into innovative knee and hip prostheses, age-related health and longevity, molecular and cellular early stages of neurodegenerative diseases and other clinical-medical issues at one of the departments of the Faculty of Medicine.
