T Cells at the Beginning of the Semester
Today at noon, Prof. Carolyn King kicked off the new semester with a lecture on immune cells. More specifically, about the abilities of T cells to "remember" past diseases.
The title of the lecture, also King's inaugural lecture, referred to Marcel Proust's "A la recherche du temps perdu": "In search of lost time: making immune memories that last". The question was why T cells can "remember" some diseases and not others. Knowing this would take immunology a big step forward. That's why Carolyn King and her collaborators have dedicated themselves to this goal.
Welcome to the School of Medicine, Carolyn King, welcome to the spring semester, dear students.
